If leaks over recent weeks are to be believed, the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be a significant upgrade over the technical capabilities of its predecessor. Nintendo allegedly showcased behind-closed-door tech demos to developers in August, following which it has been reported that, thanks to its use of DLSS, the console will be capable of outputting games at 4K/60 FPS with support for ray tracing.
Given that the Switch 2 is purportedly touting those capabilities, one might think that, unlike what’s been the case with Nintendo consoles for a decade and half now, the Switch’s successor will see much more simultaneous multiplatform releases. And apparently, that will indeed be the case.
That’s according to prominent insider Tom Henderson. Recently taking to Twitter, along with expressing his excitement about the Switch 2’s tech, he claimed that. in the next 12-18 months, we’ll be seeing “a heck of a lot” announcement of multiplatform games getting simultaneous Switch 2 launches alongside their PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions.
Leaks have claimed that Nintendo is targeting a release sometime in the second half of 2024, which would presumably mean we’ll start getting official information on it in the coming months. As for what some of these major multiplatform titles could be, recent leaks have given some potential indication, with mention of games like Far Cry 7 and Monster Hunter 6.
Really excited for the Nintendo Switch 2 and its tech.
We'll see «Launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC» a heck of a lot in 12-18 months.
