It follows the classic survival formula, with players crafting weapons, equipment, and homes to defend themselves against dinosaurs, mythical creatures, and other hostile players. Its unique twist, though, is that some of those megafauna can be tamed to aid in daily life or enemy base raiding.
was first revealed to be under development in March 2023. It's a separate entity from, the planned sequel to the original game now set for release in late 2024. Further information provided at the October 25, 2023, Xbox Partner Preview suggests a more concrete release date, as well as a better understanding of what's different about the game this time around.

It's technically still in early access, and according to its Steam page, should remain that way until the end of 2024. That coincides with 's planned release date, so the two games should both be up and running at about the same time.
Some content is missing from during its early access period, including game modes Survival of the Fittest, Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, and both parts of Genesis. All six of 's free expansions are also currently absent:,,,,, and DLC are not available in the remake. However, this is only a temporary state of affairs, and each of these will probably be added during the course of the early access period as their kinks are worked out.
