I’ve spent a lot of time behind a steering wheel over the past week, and I think I’m pretty likely to carry that forward through to the weekend, with Forza Motorsport in that weird Schrödinger state of expensive edition early access, but with the full release not until next week. There’s no messing around for AC Mirage, though. That throwback Assassin’s Creed adventure is just out and you can play it now. What a time to be alive!
In addition to those two big game launches, let’s catch up on the past seven days of video games.
It felt like a fairly quiet week for video games news. Here’s what we reported over the past seven days.
This week saw Assassin’s Creed heading back to its roots, while Forza Motorsport aims to be a foundational new release in the long-running racing series. How did they both fare?
Alongside the reviews, we had a good clutch of previews to dig into. I checked out the controller-waggling, booty-shaking shenanigans of WarioWare: Move It!, before getting much more cerebral with the philosophical ponderings and puzzles of The Talos Principle 2.
Meanwhile, Dom played Yu Suzuki’s next game, Air Twister, and the Settlers-like Pioneers of Pagonia, and had a great time smashing through the FPS roguelike Battle Shapers. Gamoc followed up on our main review of Baldur’s Gate 3 with his extensive thoughts and impressions from Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5.
Rounding the week out, as always, was What We Played, which featured Forza Motorsport, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and RoboCop.
