The Snapdragon X Plus is Qualcomm’s less powerful version of the Snapdragon X Elite that will power less capable notebooks, but on paper, its specifications are quite promising. According to a Geekbench 6 leak, in the ‘ML’ benchmark, we spotted that the upcoming SoC will sport a 10-core CPU cluster, making it two cores less than the Snapdragon X Elite, along with other details, so let us check them out here.
The Geekbench 6 scores’ link was posted by @faridofanani96 on X, showing the Snapdragon X Plus obtaining different scores in the ML or Machine Learning benchmark. Irrespective of the benchmark, the chipset is said to be running on the ‘Balanced’ power plan, and it features a 10-core CPU cluster, where six are performance cores, while the remaining four are likely designed for power efficiency. In comparison, the Snapdragon X Elite features a 12-core cluster and sports eight performance cores.
In both the results, the Snapdragon X Plus obtains a score of 1,903 and 2,410, which is strange to see because the specifications of the SoC are not different at all. The RAM count is also the same, but we have reported earlier that Qualcomm was preparing two versions of the Snapdragon X Plus, which would have delivered the varying results that we are seeing right now. A 10-core CPU cluster means that the silicon will perform slower in multi-threaded applications compared to the Snapdragon X Elite, but not by much, since the difference between the two chipsets is only two cores.
However, we could see differences in other areas, such as on-device AI, varying integrated 5G modems, and other changes. Qualcomm is said to officially announce the Snapdragon X Elite and the Snapdragon X Plus on April 24, so we will
