2023 has already been a big year for survival horror remakes, with Dead Space making its grand return and Resident Evil 4 about to, and it seems we may not have long to wait for the anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake. That said, getting our hands on the game is still subject to the whims of Konami, so don’t go holding your breath.
In a recent Polish interview, Bloober Team president Piotr Babieno confirmed the Silent Hill 2 remake is “technically ready,” which doesn’t mean they’re entirely finished, but they’re close. Translation issues may be in effect here, but it sounds like the game is essentially done and they’re just in the final bug-squashing and polishing phase. That said, Konami still holds the strings when it comes to the game’s release.
“Silent Hill 2 is technically ready. It does not mean that the game is finished, but we are close. However, the issue of the release schedule lies with our partners, what the promotion will look like and when the title will debut is not directly in our hands.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Babieno expresses his desire to make Bloober Team the next “Naughty Dog or Ninja Theory.” To achieve that they’re working on numerous projects at once, including the Silent Hill 2 remake, and original IP for Private Division, and collaborations with Draw Distance (Serial Cleaner) and Rogue Games (The Last Case of Benedict Fox).
