Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II has obviously been a huge success (like all CoDs), but it hasn’t been hanging at the top of the sales charts quite as consistently as some other titles in the series. As such, it seems Activision is looking to give CoD: Modern Warfare II a bit of a boost, with its first week of free multiplayer (short stints here and there have been offered before, but this is the first time we’ve got a full 7 days).
Activision isn’t giving players access to all of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s multiplayer content, but the selection of modes and maps is pretty generous. Get the lowdown, below.
The free content includes the new Pelayo’s Lighthouse map – here’s some more detail on that…
“Whether you’re descending via helicopter or making a daring amphibious assault, Pelayo’s Lighthouse challenges Operators to navigate across a small, craggy island during an intense evening storm. The map includes various maintenance buildings supporting the central Main Building and the eponymous lighthouse near its center.”
Activision recently launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II/Warzone 2.0 Season 3, which features the return of return of the 2v2 Gunfight mode in Modern Warfare II, a new Gulag for Warzone 2.0, and fairly extensive overhaul with a variety of new mechanics for DMZ. Of course, the usual array of new maps, modes, operators, weapons, and cosmetics are also on offer. You can get more details on the latest season of content here.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. The free multiplayer week runs from April 19 to April 26. Is anyone planning to give the game a free test drive?
