Development on Bloober Team’s PS5 remake of Silent Hill 2 is close to completion, CEO Piotr Babieno revealed in an interview reported by Bankier.pl. He stressed, however, this doesn’t necessarily mean that a release is imminent – and he explained that its launch date will ultimately be decided by publisher Konami.
“Silent Hill 2 is technically ready,” he confirmed, as translated by Google Translate. “It doesn’t mean that the game is finished, but we are close. However, the issue of the release schedule lies with our partners; what the promotion will look like and when the title will debut is not directly in our hands.”
The interview goes on to dig a little deeper into Bloober Team’s strategy moving forward. Babieno said that the Polish studio’s ambition is to be as big and respected as Naughty Dog, and he also alluded to the developer potentially adopting the Sony studio’s cross-media strategy, with HBO’s critically acclaimed television show recently reinvigorating sales of The Last of Us.
Elsewhere, he talked a little bit about virtual reality, explaining that he believes it’s the future of horror, but he wants to build games specifically for the medium, rather than port existing projects like the studio has in the past. We’d be really interested to see what it could do with PSVR2, and Babieno added that he’s convinced his company will have achieved success in the sector before 2027.

I hope it’s released this year. Dead Space, RE4 and SH2 in one year would be amazing. Three of the best horror games.
