Last year, Konami proudly and triumphantly announced the return of the Silent Hill series with a bunch of new titles, one of the biggest being the Silent Hill 2 Remake. We didn't get a release date during that announcement, but it was revealed the game is being developed by Layers of Fear and The Medium creator Bloober Team. Details on when the game is expected to launch have been pretty sparse since its reveal, though Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno has suggested it might be sooner rather than later.
In an interview shared by polish outlet Bankier (translated by VGC), Babieno claims that Silent Hill 2 Remake is "techically ready" but stresses that this doesn't mean the game is finished. Instead, he states that the game is "close" to completion, but says that the game's release schedule and promotion is being handled by Konami.

“Silent Hill 2 is technically ready,” explains Babieno. "It does not mean that the game is finished, but we are close. However, the issue of the release schedule lies with our partners, what the promotion will look like and when the title will debut is not directly in our hands."
With these comments, we can assume that we'll get a release date at some point later this year, if the game is as close to completion as Babieno suggests. Since Silent Hil 2 Remake is a PS5 console exclusive for 12 months, it's possible we could see a release date announced at the rumored PlayStation Showcase that is expected to take place before E3 this summer. It also seems like Silent Hill 2 Remake could launch later this year, though we're probably better waiting for an official date before we get our hopes too high.
