Sega reheating older IP including Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio
pcgamesinsider.bizJapanese games giant Sega is making new entries in a number of its existing franchises.
At The Game Awards yesterday, the publisher revealed that it was working on new games based on existing IP. These include Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage and Shinobi.
“In recent years, Sonic the Hedgehog has forged new paths for Sega, bringing the franchise to life and reaching new audiences in ways we had only dreamed of in the past. Building off that success, we are digging into our legacy and reimagining several franchises to bring these games to more audiences around the globe,” Sega America CEO and Sega Corporation co-COO Shuji Utsumi said.
“Today's announcement is just the start of our initiative. First and foremost, our ambition will be to create great games with memorable characters and worlds. We hope fans of all ages will look towards our future with anticipation as we release these projects in the coming years.”
This follows Sega cancelling the brand new IP Hyenas which resulted in the company laying off staff at its Creative Assembly studio.
Said IP was reportedly the company's most expensive ever.
