director Ali Selim has called the series “a six-hour movie” and discussed the possibility of a second season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series.
In the most recent issue of SFX Magazine, Selim called Secret Invasion “a six-hour movie unto itself,” then noted that he’d love to make a second season of the series.
“When it ends, I hope you feel satiated and complete,” Selim stated. “And as Marvel does so excellently, you also feel like ‘Oh, it could go in this direction.’ Nick Fury is alive and continues to battle, I don’t think that’s a spoiler alert. And there are some characters that are no longer with us and some characters that live to see another challenge. I would love to see that challenge become season two.”
The Secret Invasion premiere episode will release on June 21, 2023 on Disney+. Each episode of the six-episode miniseries will debut every Wednesday, leading up to the finale on July 26, 2023.
The show stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, and Don Cheadle — all reprising their roles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. It will also introduce characters portrayed by Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, and Olivia Colman into the MCU.
