Samsung refreshed its FE—or, Fan Edition—line of products with a new Galaxy S23 smartphone, a few Galaxy Tab S9 tablets, and a new pair of Galaxy Buds earphones. We got the chance to see all of these devices in person. Here's what we know about these affordable gadgets along with our first impressions.
The last Galaxy S Fan Edition phone was the Galaxy S21 FE. After two years, we finally have a new one. The Galaxy S23 FE measures 6.22 by 3.01 by 0.32 inches (HWD) and features a 6.4-inch screen with a resolution of 2,220 by 1,080 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a max brightness of 1,500 nits. A 10MP front-facing camera is hidden in a punch hole at the top of the screen and a fingerprint sensor is under the lower portion of the display.
On the back, you'll see a vertically stacked triple camera layout with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera. The first two cameras are the same as those found on the Galaxy S23 and S23+, but those devices come with a 10MP telephoto option instead. You'll find a power button and volume rocker on the right edge, no buttons on the left edge, a SIM tray on the top edge, and a USB-C port and speaker grille on the bottom edge.
Inside, the S23 FE is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which can be found in devices like Samsung's Galaxy S22 line. This chip powered many of 2022's flagship Android phones. Every version of the S23 FE comes with 8GB of RAM, but there are two storage options; 128GB and 256GB. The S23 FE has a 4,500mAh battery. It can charge rapidly at up to 25W wired and it supports Qi wireless charging and reverse wireless charging at an unknown rate. For connectivity, there's 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.
