While some fans might expect Liefeld to be upset about a joke made at the expense of his artistic abilities, it appears Liefeld was aware of the easter egg ahead of time. In a post on X, Liefeld first touted Deadpool and Wolverine's action sequences, writing, «I've been telling everyone how great this movie looks and it’s the BEST action since Winter Soldier. The car fight! Forest fight! The ********** fight! It’ll be up there with the best Comic Book Film of all time!» Liefeld then shared several X posts by other users who spotted the reference to him. Liefeld then responded to a fan who suggested the comic book writer likely laughed at the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer joke. «I'll go you one better, I approved it 9 months ago!» Liefeld explained.
