Rise of the Ronin is the latest joint from Team Ninja, and while it’s a large, challenging game, some might be wondering – what happens after I roll credits? Is there a New Game+ I can tackle? Are there are post-game features and content I can unlock? Don’t worry, we’re here to take some of the mystery out of Rise of the Ronin’s endgame…
Note: The following article doesn’t touch on any Rise of the Ronin plot details, some may still consider talk of its postgame SPOILER territory.
No, there isn’t. Rather than start a new game, you’re simply dumped back into Rise of the Ronin’s world and allowed to continue playing. What sets Rise of the Ronin apart is the Soul Testimony mechanic. This is unlocked after Chapter 1 upon receiving the Testimony of the Soul in-game book, which presents a timeline that that allows you to replay any mission you want. This also allows you to make new decisions and see how they play out, meaning you can access all story content in the game without having to restart.
Yes. The most significant thing you’ll unlock is the Midnight difficulty setting. You can apply this difficulty to any mission you replay using Soul Testament, which allows you to essentially replicate replaying the game on a higher difficulty.
Also unlocked are new challenging Ally Missions and the Breakthrough skill tree, which allows you to further boost your stats and learn the weapon styles of your Blade Twin.
So there you have it – no, there’s not a New Game+ mode in RotR, but because of the game’s unique setup, you don’t really need it.
Rise of the Ronin can be played on PS5. You can check out Wccftech’s other Rise of the Ronin guides here.
