Physical copies of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 for PS5 have recently been spotted on a Romanian retailer’s website. This indicates that some recent Resident Evil games could be getting physical releases for PS5 on July 31.
These three recent Resident Evil games are available for both last-gen and current-gen consoles but did not always have native versions for PS5. Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 eventually received digital PS5 native versions after their original launch, but never a physical release. With the success of the Resident Evil 2 remake and these other titles, it's not surprising that this could be about to change.
Now, physical PS5 versions for RE2, RE3, and RE7 briefly appeared on a Romanian retailer’s website called Jocurinoi RO. As spotted by RinoTheBouncer and AlexCardinal21, the website listed the RE games with July 31 as their release date, complete with pre-order pages, but all mentions of these games have since been removed. While Capcom has yet to announce physical versions for the PS5 Resident Evil games, the fact that all these excellent Resident Evil games already have digital PS5 versions does give the rumor more credibility.
While this is certainly exciting news for PS5 owners who love Resident Evil, many fans may likely be more interested in upcoming releases in the Resident Evil universe. Capcom recently confirmed that it has five Resident Evil games currently in development, and it’s likely that these projects include Resident Evil 9 and a remake of Resident Evil 5.
At the moment, not much is known about Resident Evil 9, but some recent Resident Evil 9 leaks indicate possible details about Capcom’s upcoming horror title. Some of these leaks claim that Chris Redfield will be Resident Evil 9’s protagonist, for example, and will be joined by other characters such as Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Leon S. Kennedy.
