Arkane Austin and Bethesda Softworks today announced that a key feature won’t be available at launch for Redfall on Xbox Series X|S, Performance Mode.
Arkane’s long-awaited vampire hunting game is nearing its release following a year-long delay. Xbox Series X|S and PC players can finally get their hands on the game May 2, though console players might not be happy about a missing feature.
In a Tweet, Arkane confirmed that Redfall will only have a Quality mode at launch with resolutions set at 4K on Xbox Series X and 1440p on Xbox Series S. This means that both consoles will be capped at 30fps. The Performance mode that boosts the framerate to 60 won’t arrive till an unspecified time after launch.

Performance modes have become a key feature for this-generation of consoles. The flexibility to choose between high resolution, performance, and even high-frame rate modes is something console players have enjoyed. For a twitchy, arcade style shooter like Redfall, a 60fps option seems like a no-brainer. At this point, who knows when Arkane intends on patching in a Performance mode.
Redfall launches May 2 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
