Some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players discovered a potentially game-breaking bug recently and shared details on social media to figure out any common causes or reasons behind the bug. The news broke just one week after Pokemon Scarlet and Violet released a new update and two new 5-star raid battles against some legendary Pokemon.
At the time of writing, Nintendo has yet to release any acknowledgment of the bug in question but has promised to continue to provide updates to the games to address the ongoing performance issues that have been reported many times. Last week, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were updated to version 1.2.0, which fixed some performance issues by decreasing the number of NPCs and Pokemon that will appear in the game at any given time. But in the process, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet may have had some other issues crop up as a result of the update.

On Reddit, a growing number of users are contributing to a thread on the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit that was first compiled by a user named MatthewCBayer. According to MatthewCBayer, the bug has happened in instances in which players have either connected their Pokemon Scarlet and Violet save files to Pokemon GO, which was a feature brought in with the 1.2.0 version update. However, a few players that have used the postcard feature to obtain Vivillon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have also reported that their game save files were corrupted and unreadable after a time, and were forced to either delete and reinstall the game if it was a digital copy or start a different file on a different Nintendo Switch player profile.
