It's been a while since we've heard any big news come from Naughty Dog about their upcoming projects, with the only known title coming from the studio being a currently unnamed multiplayer game set in the universe of The Last of Us. However, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann has revealed that work on the studio's next big title has already started, and it may not be The Last of Us Part 3 despite the series renewed popularity.
Speaking in an interview with Kinda Funny, Druckmann explains that Naughty Dog is in the unique position that allows it to make whatever the team is most excited about, with very little pressure from PlayStation to churn out sequels. Because of this, Naughty Dog is allowed to explore a number of different projects, some of them sequels and some of them entirely new ideas. Druckmann doesn't reveal which Naughty Dog's next big title is going to be, although he is aware of the demand for The Last of Us Part 3.

"At the end of every project we purposefully explore several different projects. Some of them might be a sequel, and then a bunch of new ideas, and then we really feel like "where do our passions lie". That's the fire that has to sustain for years to come, because if you pick the wrong project and you burn out from that idea because you weren't that passionate about it two years into it on a four year project, you're fucked."
