FPS fans who love fighting giant mechs with fast-paced combat have something new to look forward to thanks to the announcement of a new indie FPS game called Echo Point Nova. Indie first-person shooters have gained a considerable amount of traction in recent years, particularly in the PC gaming space in which many formative FPS franchises were born.
First-person shooters have been a staple of gaming for decades, but many of the genre's earliest hits started as PC games, with some prominent examples being Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem, and Wolfenstein. Many modern FPS games have called back to this era of game design with fast-paced combat and an emphasis on striking art styles and sound design. Some of the best retro-FPS games such as Dusk, Ion Fury, and Amid Evil have experienced great success, showing that there is a sizable market for this subgenre on both PC and consoles.

This audience now has another game to add to their wishlists with the announcement of Echo Point Nova from developer Greylock Studio who previously made the FPS Severed Steel which was released in 2021 across PC and consoles. Similar to its predecessor, Echo Point Nova features fast-paced combat, a dazzling soundtrack, and an emphasis on mobility. However, it distinguishes itself with the addition of co-op and large open-world environments that allow for greater mobility and make space for larger enemies like mechs. Echo Point Nova was announced to release this year on the Severed Steel Twitter account which also encouraged players to wishlist the game on Steam where they can also view a trailer.
