Update: Digital Foundry has now followed through with its more extensive verdict on PS5 Pro Game Boost, discussing the enhancements on games not specifically patched to support the hardware.
In almost all cases, you’re getting a smoother experience. Titles like Elden Ring run much closer to 60fps in Quality Mode, although still fluctuate heavily. The tech experts stress that the results are in the VRR boundary, so if you have a 120Hz display, you can benefit there.
Another noteworthy title which demonstrates a significant enhancement is Metaphor: ReFantazio, which is now almost locked to 60fps throughout.
The video does stress that rarely do the improvements touch the 45% boost touted by Sony, with 30% being the general average across all their testing. Still, that’s a pretty sizeable leap over the standard PS5 hardware, and it’s worth remembering that all of these games are unpatched.

The popular Soulslike is a Game of the Year contender, but it pushed the base PS5 to its limits and often would exhibit heavy frame rate dips from its target 60fps. Using the PS5 Pro’s raw power, the game pushes an additional 10-15 frames in challenging scenarios.
It’s worth reiterating that Game Science has not patched the game for the supercharged system, so this is simply a case of the stronger hardware holding a steadier frame rate. It’s also important to note that it’s still far from a locked 60fps even with the $700/£700 system.

Depending on the developer’s plans, a patch could be released here to get even better results, potentially using PSSR to achieve that all-important locked 60fps. As of the time of writing, nothing’s been announced.
Still, it’s good to see PS5 Pro improving games that don’t even officially support it. Obviously this won’t be worth the significant expense
