Sony has updated the Extra tier of its PlayStation Plus subscription service to add Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, a brand-new, day one release. PlayStation Plus isn't exactly known for its day one releases, especially when compared to Xbox Game Pass, but that doesn't mean that the service is totally without day one games. In fact, numerous day one games have been added to PlayStation Plus over the years.
The monthly free PS Plus games sometimes have day one releases, like back in February when Foamstars was one of the free PS Plus games. More commonly, day one games are added to PS Plus Extra. In fact, a day one game was added to PS Plus Extra earlier in April, as Dave the Diver joined the service on the same day of its PlayStation release. Now yet another day one game is available for PS Plus Extra subscribers to try.
Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is available now for PS Plus Extra subscribers to try. The new Metroidvania game has earned somewhat mixed reviews from critics, but it seems as though many are in agreement that its story is a strong point. Tales of Kenzera being available to play through PS Plus Extra means subscribers can try it without making any kind of financial commitment, so it definitely wouldn't hurt to check it out, even if one is put off by the lower-than-expected review scores.
Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is an exception to the rule when it comes to PS Plus Extra. Most of the time, all the new PS Plus Extra games are added on the same day of the month. For April, the PS Plus Extra library update happened on April 16, which is when the bulk of the games, including the aforementioned Dave the Diver, were added. Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is unique in that it was added on its own day, and that, in turn, could help give it more attention among PS Plus subscribers.
