In retro news, I'm celebrating the 32nd birthday of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, a true RPG classic. I co-played this around launch with my SNES-owning neighbour, and it was an all-consuming experience—tense dungeon crawling/puzzling, map drawing in exercise books, and critical intel swaps with other kids at school. Blind, pre-Internet adventuring was gruelling stuff that could stump you for days, but I'll be damned if it wasn't also Triforce levels of magical when you won.
