The recently-released PlayStation-published third-person shooter game Helldivers 2 is exploding in popularity on PC and PS5, and now a petition to bring it to Xbox is blowing up. Helldivers 2 was developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive earlier this month. Helldivers 2 reviews have been mostly positive, and the game has proven to be an incredible success for Sony.
Helldivers 2 has broken records when it comes to Sony's PC games. It's been a huge hit on Steam, passing the concurrent player counts for games like Destiny 2, Starfield, and other major releases. With all this buzz surrounding Helldivers 2, it's really no surprise that Xbox gamers want to get in on the action.
With Helldivers 2 published by Sony, an Xbox port of the game is extremely unlikely. Even so, that hasn't stopped Head of Xbox Phil Spencer speaking out about it. And now Xbox fans have started a petition asking for a Helldivers 2 port. At the time of this writing, over 25,000 people have signed the petition to bring Helldivers 2 to Xbox, with dozens of new signatures with each refresh of the page. Unfortunately, the petition is unlikely to convince Sony to bring Helldivers 2 to Xbox, but it's a testament to the game's popularity that fans on Microsoft's consoles want to see it ported so badly.
While Sony has been porting its games to PC in recent years, it has made no indication that any of its titles will ever be released on an Xbox console. One exception to the rule is the PlayStation-developed MLB The Show games, but even then, those Xbox ports are not actually published by Sony itself, but rather MLB Advanced Media. So, while it's technically possible, fans shouldn't hold their breath for a Helldivers 2 Xbox port.
