WB Games Montreal, the studio behind Gotham Knights, could be assisting Monolith Productions with its upcoming WonderWomangame — at least according to a newly discovered job listing. WB Montreal is already well familiar with the DC Universe, having helped Rocksteady with Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition for the Wii U in 2012 before releasing Batman: Arkham Origins the following year. Its next gaming venture took it outside of the Arkhamverse with Gotham Knights, a spiritual successor that shifted the focus toward the other members of the Bat Family as they carried out the mission of defending Gotham City after Batman’s death.
Both Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights were met with mixed reviews at launch after being inevitably compared to Rocksteady’s DC-based offerings. However, recent rumors suggested that the studio wasn’t quite ready to abandon DC yet, as WB Montreal is reportedly hiring for a new project based on one of parent company Warner Bros. Discovery’s many licensed properties. At the beginning of this month, a job listing called for a Creative Director to spearhead this project, one that would ideally have experience producing AAA action titles like Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights.
Now it has been revealed that WB Montreal is helping with the development of another major DC-based video game. The studio recently posted a job listing for an External Development Artist, with the job description explicitly naming Monolith’s Wonder Woman game as the project they will be working on. Whoever is chosen for the job will specialize in providing support between WB Montreal’s internal Level Art team and its external network of global developers to help create in-game props, architecture, and natural assets. They will also assist in feedback cycles and ensure that the game’s assets are being built on time and to the best level of quality possible.
