After weeks of rumours and leaks, Epic has confirmed that Midas, one of the most popular original characters who hasn't been seen since Chapter 2, Season 2, is returning to Fortnite next week.
As much as we love seeing all of the strange collaborations and crossovers that come to Fortnite such as Peter Griffin and Solid Snake, it's also nice when a new Chapter or Season decides to focus more on original characters. This is exactly what we've seen so far in Chapter 5, Season 2, which only has Korra as a guest character so far and otherwise puts the spotlight on Fortnite's version of Greek gods.
You might presume that this is just the calm before the storm and that we'll soon be getting more well-known IP added to The Island, but that doesn't seem to be the case just yet. Since Chapter 5, Seasons 2 released, there have been a lot of rumours about Midas finally making his return to Fortnite, and those rumours have just been confirmed to be true.
Over on the official Fortnite Twitter account, an image was shared that shows Midas (complete with a new design) holding a gun up in the air and walking through a door towards some green light (likely representing the Underworld area on the map). The caption confirms what we've all been hoping - "Midas returns".
Following the announcement from the official Fortnite Twitter, reliable insider ShiinaBR shared an image of the news section from within Fortnite that confirms that Midas is going to be coming back on March 19, two days from now. The image simply says "Midas returns" and shows off his new design, which has him in a cape and with a golden crown.
Even though the focus is on Midas right now, for anyone hoping to see some of their favourite characters come to Fortnite in the future, a recent character survey might have hinted at potential crossovers in the future .
That's not all that's coming on March 19, though, as the image also shows the Chain of Hades mythic item that was teased when the season first dropped. ShiinaBR
