In the Peacemaker season 1 finale, James Gunn had the Justice League appear for a dramatic cameo, but the shocking appearance highlights just how broken the DCEU timeline really is. The DCEU timeline has been getting distorted by various incidents, such as the release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League, and it has been hard to know what part of the continuity is still considered canon. Peacemaker has raised some eyebrows with apparent departures from continuity, and the Justice League cameo might make for one more confusing element.
Throughout Peacemaker season 1, the show makes multiple references to different heroes, strange sidekicks, and villains, in some cases confirming their existence in the DCEU for the very first time. While these characters are teased and discussed at various points, none of these characters appeared. However, in the Peacemaker season 1 finale, the Justice League appear for a short cameo. While Superman and Wonder Woman are hidden in shadow, Aquaman and the Flash are both represented by their long-standing DCEU actors, Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller respectively.

The presence of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ezra Miller’s Flash poses a problem for the DCEU timelines. The early episodes of Peacemaker heavily imply that the series takes place in a different timeline in the DCEU multiverse to the preceding movies.
