Peacemaker’s delightfully bizarre opening dance sequence has been recreated with LEGO blocks and the show’s writer/director James Gunn approves. Peacemaker made its debut on HBO Max on January 13 and aired its season 1 finale on February 17. The series follows John Cena’s Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, who first appeared on the screen in last year's The Suicide Squad, also directed by Gunn.
Peacemaker’s spin-off series sees the “douchey Captain America” and the 11th Street Kids attempt to thwart an alien invasion using a plot called Operation: Butterfly. In addition to Cena, Peacemaker stars Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, Nhut Le as Judomaster, and Freddie Stoma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante. As Gunn’s follow-up to The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker establishes its wonderful absurdity with its 90-second intro/opening credits sequence that sees the entire cast doing an expressionless and robotic dance to Wig Wam's «Do Ya Wanna Taste It.” Choreographer Charissa Barton called this the “Peacemaker Groove” and it has resonated with and been recreated by fans on many social media platforms.

Gunn recently took to Twitter to share a YouTube video created by Brick Cucumber. The video uses stop-motion animation featuring the toy „cast“ of Peacemaker to recreate the series’ opening intro in LEGO form. Another fan commented on Gunn’s post recommending an 8-bit recreation of Peacemaker’s intro. You can check them both out below:
