Jason Momoa seemingly can't handle being asked about the fish joke made at Aquaman's expense at the end of the Peacemaker finale without bursting into laughter. Momoa made his superhero debut as the nautical warrior in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, reprising the role again for the ensemble-driven Justice League before starring in his standalone film Aquaman. A sequel, titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, is set to be released later this year, but that didn't stop the character from making a surprise cameo appearance, along with other Justice League colleagues, during the final moments of the HBO Max series earlier this year.
Created as a spinoff from his 2021 action-comedy The Suicide Squad, James Gunn's Peacemaker saw the return of the titular jingoistic antihero (played by John Cena). In the show, Peacemaker attempted to defeat a parasitic alien species after being forcibly recruited to the A.R.G.U.S. black ops squad «Project Butterfly.» The team ultimately successfully defeats the dreaded alien parasites, but not without casualties, and many of them require medical treatment for their injuries. As the group leaves the battleground, the Justice League appears on the scene, having arrived too late, much to Peacemaker's annoyance. The helmeted hero offers an additional put-down to Aquaman, telling him to "Go f*ck another fish, asshole!", leaving Momoa's character to complain to The Flash (Ezra Miller) about how sick he is of hearing that rumor.
