John Cena Gets Backlash Over Peacemaker Tweet About Ukraine-Russia War
The HBO Max series Peacemaker has just come to an end, and it appears as if the first season was quite successful. While the success of the HBO Max series has put its star, John Cena, in the spotlight, it appears that's not always a great thing considering he's come under fire for a recent tweet about the character.
Not long after the Peacemaker series came to a close and the character in the HBO Max show seemingly saved the world from an alien takeover, things in the real world started to get a bit more violent. After weeks of threats, Vladimir Putin ordered his armed forces to invade Ukraine. Most of the world has spent the last few days sharing their takes on the situation on social media and Cena joined the fray with his own tweet, though the way he delivered his message was met with some pushback because some thought he might have been claiming he could fix everything.
Peacemaker Builds On A Familiar James Gunn Theme
The Peacemaker actor took to Twitter with a short tweet. While he doesn't go into great detail on just what he meant by the post, more than a few social media users have decided to read into his comments. «If I could somehow summon the powers of a real life Peacemaker,» he wrote. «I think this would be a great time to do so.»
Because the tweet came out just as the war in Ukraine had started, the post started a firestorm of responses from people who thought he might be hinting that Peacemaker could somehow help solve the issue. Many users on the social media platform made it clear they felt like this was the wrong time for that particular kind of post.
