Sylvester Stallone has shared a touching photo from a soldier in Ukraine that shows a puppy named after his 80s action hero Rambo. Stallone, 75, was the breakout star of the Rocky franchise in the late 1970s, but it was 1982’s First Blood that introduced audiences to the iconic survivalist Vitenam veteran John Rambo. Stallone played the role in five theatrical movies, including most recently in 2019’s Rambo: Last Blood. The character is a brave soldier who overcomes impossible odds, often outnumbered and outgunned.
Over the last week, the people of Ukraine have been under attack from their Russian neighbors in a violent invasion by order of Vladimir Putin. Putin’s actions have gathered international condemnation from NATO, the UN, the EU, and more. With the worrying scenes unfolding daily, and missile attacks on major cities in the independent nation ongoing, the crisis has most of the world united in its support of the innocent civilians (many of whom have bravely taken up arms to protect their home).

Now, in a post to his followers on Instagram, Stallone has shared an inspirational viral picture that has been making the rounds on the internet. A screenshot of a social media post from Ukraine, the picture depicts a puppy that was supposedly discovered by Ukrainian soldiers abandoned amidst the chaos. The brave puppy “stands guard” for the resistance troops, who have apparently named him after Stallone’s famous hero Rambo. Adding his own words to the post, Stallone blesses the brave people of Ukraine and exclaims “This nightmare and vicious tragedy has to stop!” Check out the post below:
