James Gunn gives an update on the current status of Peacemaker season 2. The series stars John Cena, who reprises his role as the violent vigilante he portrayed in 2021's The Suicide Squad. The series debuted on HBO Max in January 2022.
Following his introduction in The Suicide Squad, Cena's Christopher Smith was given his own mission in the first season ofPeacemaker. Tasked with uncovering and halting an alien conspiracy, the anti-hero was forced to confront both his own identity and his past. Despite a surprise Justice League cameo featuring both Jason Mamoa and Ezra Miller as Aquaman and the Flash, Peacemaker ended by focusing on its cast's personal journeys, and with a second season being confirmed, Gunn has discussed the character's state of mind going into the upcoming season.
