James Gunn fires back against a report that claims the DC villain Bane will be in Peacemaker season 2. The HBO Max series Peacemaker, itself a spin-off of Gunn's acclaimed DCEU movie The Suicide Squad, premiered in January and quickly cemented itself as one of the buzziest shows of 2022. Gunn reunited with his Suicide Squad star John Cena to create a series centered on the seemingly toxic Peacemaker, aka Christopher Smith, as he joins up with a new team. Peacemaker was greeted with positive reviews from fans and critics, and after drumming up new records for HBO Max, it was greenlit for season 2 just last week.
Peacemaker's season 2 renewal arrived just one day before the season 1 finale, which served up some jaw-dropping DC cameos and brought the Project Butterfly storyline to a close. Though Peacemaker didn't have a traditional cliffhanger, it does have some lingering threads that are bound to have an impact on season 2. As a result, fans have already begun discussing what could lie ahead for those like Peacemaker, Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), and Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks).

However, it's perhaps important to remember that little about Peacemaker season 2 is actually set in stone right now, despite what some may claim. Over the weekend, a report was published claiming famous DC villain Bane will appear as a primary antagonist in season 2. Gunn firmly shut down the idea, writing, "This is bullshit." He added, "No one knows what’s coming but me, & even I don’t fully know."
Don’t you know by now to make really sure of this stuff before posting? This is bullshit. No one knows what’s coming but me, & even I don’t fully know.
