James Gunn shares a humorous reaction to his recent engagement being reported by CNN. Before his recent crossover to DC, Gunn was best known as the writer/director behind the MCU's Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Though after being briefly fired by Disney for controversial tweets, Gunn pivoted to the DCEU for a passion project of his, The Suicide Squad, which led to the successful spinoff, Peacemaker. Gunn has since been rehired by Marvel and is currently filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is intended to be his final film in the trilogy.
With two well-received entries into the DCEU, Gunn likely now has free rein to do whatever he wants for Warner Bros. and DC. He will return to write and direct all episodes for Peacemaker season 2, though Gunn has repeatedly hinted at another Suicide Squad spinoff he is developing for HBO Max. Fans have speculated the show could revolve around characters like Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), TDK (Nathan Fillion), or even Weasel (Sean Gunn). Though Gunn usually garners attention for reasons related to his entries into the MCU and DCEU, he recently made headlines for announcing a major development in his personal life.
