James Gunn recently revealed his top three favorite movies of all time. The director started his career in the industry as a screenwriter during the mid-'90s. He began directing in 2006, making his debut with the horror-comedy film Slither before moving onto the superhero genre. Gunn directed Super in 2010 before entering the highly popular Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking charge of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. However, Gunn did enter some controversy in 2018 following some old tweets, with Disney cutting ties with the director before re-hiring him in March 2019.
Despite initially being an MCU man, Gunn also moved into the DCEU, releasing the very entertaining The Suicide Squad last year. Despite being a box office disappointment (partly due to the pandemic), the film received a lot of praise and is regarded as an improvement from the 2016 version. Gunn's latest project, Peacemaker released last month and ended its first season in mid-February. The DC spin-off show has also been another success for Gunn, scoring 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and receiving thoroughly positive reviews, with a second season soon to follow.
