Zoe Saldaña reveals that she's interested in making an MCU Gamora prequel movie. The version of the Guardians of the Galaxy character that fans came to know and love was sacrificed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but Saldaña returned to the MCU as her past self in Avengers: Endgame. After time-traveling to the present and switching sides to take down Thanos, she goes off on her own, and Peter Quill and the other Guardians set out to find her.
While her co-stars are slated to appear in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, Gamora is not currently included on the cast list, so fans are anticipating seeing Saldaña reprise her role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Series director James Gunn has teased the film as the end of this superhero team, and Saldaña has spoken about her return to the character being a bittersweet experience. Seth Green, who voices the cameo character Howard the Duck, has said the film is set to be centered around the story of Gamora and Nebula, teasing her character's importance to the narrative.

In an interview for Jake's Takes, she notes that the short depiction of her character's «adoption» by Thanos made her eager to explore that history in greater detail. The virtual extinction of her species has left Gamora carrying a tremendous weight, Saldaña says, and unpacking that further would be an exciting opportunity. Check out her full quote below:
