Zoe Saldaña reveals she was advised to change her name before starring in her first movie, 2000's Center Stage. Regardless of the suggestion, the actress went on to have an extensive career in Hollywood, notably starring as leads in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise hit, Guardians of the Galaxy, the 2009 Star Trek reboot, and the highest-grossing film of all time, Avatar. Saldaña is slated to return to the James Cameron series, with Avatar 2 expected to be released on December 16, 2022.
Saldaña currently features in the recently released action-adventure sci-fi Netflix movie, The Adam Project. The film focuses on Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds as Adam Reed, a time-traveling fighter pilot who crash lands in 2022 and must team up with his 12-year-old self to save the future. Along with Marvel co-star, Mark Ruffalo, and Jennifer Garner, who play Reed's parents, Saldaña rounds out the cast as Laura, the time-traveler's future love interest. The actress is also set to return as Gamora for director James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will bring the film series to a close.
