After a prolonged period of silence by development studio Endnight Games, the studio has finally given fans an update on the status of Sons of the Forest. Unfortunately, it looks like fans may have to wait until later this year to get their hands on the open-world horror survival game. Sons of the Forest has moved its target release date from this Spring to this Fall.
First announced in 2019, Sons of the Forest initially targeted a late 2021 release before shifting to early 2022. Sons of the Forest is the sequel to the breakout indie horror game, The Forest, in which players must survive in a forest filled with humanoid monsters and various horrors in order to get their son back. Endnight Studios’ Sons of the Forest will feature new enemies, enhanced weather mechanics, and greatly enhanced A.I., making this an ambitious project.

Today, Endnight Studios took to its official Twitter page to announce that Sons of the Forest has been delayed from May 2022 to October 2022. This decision appears to have been made only within the last few weeks as Endnight Games realized that its vision for Sons of the Forest is “overly ambitious.” Endnight’s tweet also contains a five-second snippet of the game for fans eager to see what the studio has been working on since its last update in November of last year.
Although news of the delay may disappoint fans who have been waiting since 2019 to get their hands on the game, Endnight does seem to be promising big things from Sons of the Forest.
