The dramatic Peacemakerfinale had the Justice League show up in the final moments, and in doing so they made a The Suicide Squad plot hole worse than it already was. James Gunn led the revival of the Suicide Squad franchise with 2021’s The Suicide Squad before leading the first DCEU TV show with Peacemaker serving as a spinoff. Gunn is now set to head up Peacemaker season 2 as well as another The Suicide Squad spinoff TV show (once he’s finished with Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3).
In Peacemaker episode 8, “It’s Cow Or Never,” Peacemaker and the team head to take out the Butterflies’ cow. Before they go into battle, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) calls her mother, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), and asks her to send backup in the form of the Justice League as they have limited time for a world-threatening problem. Waller laughs the idea off; however, as Peacemaker and the team are leaving the remains of the barn, battered and bruised, the Justice League do indeed show up. Peacemaker yells that they’re too late, taking some particular shots at Aquaman (Jason Momoa).

The Justice League turning up late for the Peacemaker finale highlights the fact that Peacemaker and the team are far from the only heroes in the DCEU. It might not have been easy to swing, but Amanda Waller was fully able to alert the Justice League of the danger and have them arrive. With the powers of all four of them, the Butterflies would have been a trivial problem. While that leaves Peacemaker needing to answer why Waller didn’t just call the Justice League earlier, it causes a bigger problem for The Suicide Squad. During the time of the events of The
