Warning: SPOILERS for Peacemaker season 1!
With the first season now complete, here's everything that is known about Peacemaker season 2. James Gunn joined the DC Extended Universe with The Suicide Squad, which introduced audiences to Christopher Smith, a.k.a. Peacemaker, played by John Cena. Even before the movie was released, Gunn knew there was room to explore Cena's DC character in more depth. HBO Max quickly greenlit his plans for Peacemaker, an eight-episode original series that marked the first DCEU TV show.
The story of Peacemaker season 1 picked up shortly after the events of The Suicide Squad when Smith was released from the hospital and recruited to a new Task Force X team. The roster included Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and John Economos (Steve Agee) from The Suicide Squad, as well as Amanda Waller's daughter Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) and the mysterious leader Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji). They were tasked with stopping an alien invasion known as Project Butterflies, but Peacemaker also had to battle his racist father, Auggie Smith, a.k.a. White Dragon (Robert Patrick). Peacemaker season 1 packed plenty of surprises as the titular character was explored, leading to its explosive finale.
