[The following contains spoilers for the Peacemaker season 1 finale]
James Gunn reveals Jason Momoa’s reaction to Peacemaker’s Aquaman fish joke. John Cena’s would-be peacemaking The Suicide Squad character recently made the leap to the small screen and the result has been a huge hit for HBO Max and the DC universe.
Of course the highly-successful Peacemaker is to say the least far from being a normal run-of-the-mill superhero TV show. Right off the bat, the series began creating buzz with its unusually raunchy tone and hilariously foul-mouthed characters, with Cena’s Peacemaker leading the way in being as lewd and funny as possible. Peacemaker’s most shockingly profane utterances in fact concerned some of his fellow DC superheroes, as the character took aim at everyone from Superman to Batman to Aquaman. One joke about Arthur Curry garnered particular attention as it involved Peacemaker accusing the aquatic superhero of engaging in sexual relations with fish.

Aquaman star Momoa has thus far avoided making any public comment about Peacemaker accusing his character of engaging in unnatural acts with his fellow sea creatures. However, it appears Momoa is actually fine with the joke, at least according to Peacemaker creator and writer Gunn. Speaking to Variety, Gunn described how things went down when he discussed Aquaman appearing in the shocking Peacemaker season 1 finale and informed Momoa about the show's Aquaman mockery:
I think before we ever shot the show, we talked to Jason about it. We were like, “Listen, [Peacemaker] says you f--k fish all the time.” And we were a little afraid he would be upset, but he just laughed. He was cool. So he was pretty much on
