Bub and Bob are bouncing back on to modern consoles as ININ Games have announced the return of Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble III. The game, a sequel to arcade classic Rainbow Islands, was originally an exclusive to the PC Engine console but later was ported to systems such as the Commodore Amiga where it became a hit.
The game is almost a mash up of Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands, retaining the small play areas and platforming from Bubble Bobble and mixing it up with attacks from umbrellas. Don’t ask, it was the 90’s.
In this captivating platformer by TAITO, players follow the adventures of two brothers, Bubby and Bobby, who embark on a mission to save their neighboring planets from an evil menace. Instead of shooting bubbles, they are now armed with colorful, dazzling parasols with magical powers. These parasols are also used to shield against enemy attacks, stun foes or unleash a torrent of high-scoring stars! Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble III is loaded with power-ups that could mean the difference between a sweet win or a crushing defeat! Toss a bomb and blast your enemies to smithereens, or freeze time with a clock that’s all yours to command. But don’t get too comfy, or Death will sneak up on you and swipe one of your precious lives! Harness the power of the parasol and show off your skills in this epic adventure!
It has also been announced that Strictly Limited Games will release physical editions of the game, which will be available for pre-order next week on July 27th. You will need to head to their online store to grab your copy.
The game will be launching on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Switch as a digital release near the end of 2023.
