Apple is planning to hold multiple events this year for different products. It was previously covered that Apple is planning to host a special event for the iPhone in September and another event later this year to announce new Macs. The event could take place in October or November time frame where the company will see fit to unveil the new M3 chip. However, not all Macs will be upgraded to the latest M3 chip as the company will keep some for next year.
As mentioned earlier, Apple will unveil the new M3 chip after being done with the iPhone 15 announcement in September. What this means is that the company can launch the M3 chip in the latest quarter of this year. According to Mark Gurman Apple will host another event in October. It was recently reported that the high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will get the M3 treatment next year.
Apple will update the existing MacBook lineup with M3 chips which means that the machines will feature better computational and graphical performance compared to the M2 chips. Currently, there are no details available on the M3 chip and the improvements it will have to offer. Check out the list of Macs below that will launch later this year with Apple's latest M3 chip.
If you are planning to upgrade your Mac or looking to buy a new one, we would suggest you wait a few months for Apple to announce the M3 chip. The M3 chip will be a major step up from M2 since it will be fabricated on TSMC's 3nm process. Apart from enhanced CPU and GPU performance, the M3 notebooks will also deliver better battery life due to the low power-hungry nature of the chips.
Since Apple just launched the 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 chip, we suspect that the notebook will not be upgraded to the latest chips.
