Mortal Kombat 1 players are reporting that the latest build present at EVO 2023 has already fixed some of the big issues revolving around movement speed from previous footage and playtests of the game.
The prospect of a new Mortal Kombat game completely reshaping the timeline and changing pretty much every character that we've known and loved over the past decade might seem scary but, by all accounts, NetherRealm seems to be knocking it out of the park so far, as those who have gone hands-on with the game prior to launch have had very positive reactions.

That being said, there is one complaint that's reared its head a few times now - the movement speed. As best illustrated by fighting game YouTuber Maximilian Dood, the speed at which characters can move and dash in Mortal Kombat 1 has taken a big hit since Mortal Kombat 11, which was already going much slower than Mortal Kombat X.
This resulted in the game apparently feeling and looking somewhat sluggish compared to other big fighters and something that was perceived as slowing things down just a little too much. This was unarguably the biggest bit of feedback that a lot of players had for the game and, despite it only being a few months since anyone has been able to try it out at Summer Game Fest or during the closed network tests, it appears to be something that NetherRealm has already worked towards fixing.
The new movement speed is something that was first highlighted by fighting game pro SonicFox, who went hands-on with the game at EVO this year and said, "OMG MK1 MOVEMENT IS INSANE NOW! THEY ADDED MK9 DASH BLOCK I COULD CRYYYY". SonicFox wasn't the only one either, as Twitter user
