When it comes to big open-world RPGs these days, a big fuss is made over whether you can do anything or go anywhere. Unless you're Baldur's Gate 3, most titles still have some kind of restriction to ensure that you experience the main quest as the developers intended, and Starfield is no exception. Like previous Bethesda titles, Starfield has a selection of essential NPCs that the player can't kill no matter how much ammunition you fire at them, mostly due to their importance in the game's overall story.
This is obviously a huge problem for all of you murderous space pirates out there. If an essential NPC is cruising for a bruising, has done some kind of nasty deed they need to be punished for, or is just generally a bit of a dick, all you can really do is either sit there and take it, or be arrested for giving them a well-deserved smack. Thankfully, a modder called AC Denton has already come up with a solution.

If you head on over to Nexus Mods and sift through all of the Starfield creations, you'll find AC Denton's very simple "Killable Essential NPCs" mod, which does exactly what it says on the tin. Download this mod, and every single previously essential NPC in the Settled Systems will now be at the mercy of your wrath. If you wanted to, you could wipe out every single life form across the galaxy, though you'd probably run into a few issues if you still wanted to finish the main quest afterwards.
