Starfield has enjoyed a great deal of success, to no one’s surprise, becoming Bethesda’s biggest launch ever with over 6 million players. And, as many would have predicted, the sci-fi RPG’s release has also resulted in boosted sales for Xbox Series X/S.
In fact, as per data provided by the Gfk (via GamesIndustry), in the UK, the Xbox Series X and S saw a cumulative 76% week-on-week increase in sales for the week ending September 2, making it the best week in 2023 in the UK for Microsoft’s current-gen hardware. Meanwhile, the following week, ending September 9, is its second-best week of the year.
Starfield launched globally on September 6, and was available to Premium Edition owners in early access for roughly a week prior to that. Though Bethesda’s RPG was a major factor contributing to Xbox’s increased hardware sales, something else that contributed was the launch of the Xbox Series S’ 1 TB model. In fact, during the week ending September 2, the new model accounted for 24% of all Xbox sales in the UK, and 20% during the week ending September 9.
Prior to Starfield’s launch, it was also reported that it had driven Xbox Series X to a 1,056% sales increase on Amazon US.
