There’s big changes coming to Sea of Thieves over the next few months, with Season 10 bringing player created Guilds for greater collaboration, competitive questing and, perhaps most significantly of all, new private servers so you can play without the threat of other pirate crews coming to sink your battleship.
Sea of Thieves Season 10 will dole these features out one-by-one over the next few months. Guilds will launch alongside the new season on 19th October, adding a new progression system for groups of up to 24 players to team up and work towards. Guilds are founded by a captain, who pledges a ship to the cause, with all members then able to sail on pledged ships, progressing Ship Milestones even when its owner is offline. This all goes toward shared Guild Reputation and unlocking cosmetics for all Guildmates to use.
After that in November will come competitive quests as a new world event. This will lead all players on a shared instance to hunt for the Skull of Siren Song, with any crew that takes up the guest gaining the same treasure maps, hunting for the same chest and key needed to claim the Skull. Gathering either of these will emit a beacon to drawn other crews to you, but if you manage to gather both? You’ll unlock the chest and get the Skull… which then curses your ship with reduced sailing speed, giving other crews a chance to steal the prize from you.
Lastly, it’s private servers and the new Safer Seas mode coming in December. This is a long, long, long requested feature, ever since the game’s launch in 2018, and means you’ll be able to play without the threat of other players attacking you.
