During PAX West 2023, Paradox and The Chinese Room announced that the long-awaited sequel to the World of Darkness brand's Vampire The Masquerade — Bloodlines was finally happening. Now, almost 20 years later, Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 is announced with the new studio helming the development.
Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 is officially coming, with development being done by British studio The Chinese Room. The studio itself is known for its incredible storytelling, having made games such as Dear Esther and Everybody's Gone To The Rapture (one of my personal favorites of all time), and it's this skill as storytellers that attracted the studio to Paradox's World of Darkness team.
Bringing that experience to bear, as well as bolstered by the talent from Sumo Digital, which acquired The Chinese Room back in 2018, the team is hard at work building on the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, taking the feel from the recent 5th Edition of the tabletop and translating that experience into an action RPG.
One major departure from the tabletop is the fact that you play as an Elder Vampire, which isn't available as a playable character otherwise. Set in Seattle, the announcement trailer showcased quite a bit of fast-paced and visceral gameplay to whet players' appetites ahead of next year's full gameplay reveal.
You can check out the full announcement trailer above. Also, World of Darkness fans who are eager to learn more about the new developer, The Chinese Room, can check out their own video, giving a glimpse into some of the key people and the approach to building Bloodlines 2 in the studio.
