Old School RuneScape involves a lot of community input, and the latest round is particularly divided. The poll has to do with a significant reward for the upcoming Desert Treasure II — The Fallen Empire Grandmaster quest.
The Ruinous Powers is Old School RuneScape ’s first-ever new Prayer book, so development is an unsurprisingly careful process. The team wants to make sure that the new Prayer book doesn't overpower all of the familiar Prayers the community is used to, but also feels sufficiently rewarding. The principle is high risk and high reward, but they want to make it feel rewarding for both those focused on skilling and combat.
The team listed a number of suggestions for various potential Prayers that could be attached to this reward and how they'll work. Some of the examples include a utility prayer called Overprotection that would protect two items on death, but drains Prayer by 25% while this is active. One called Gambit, an offensive Prayer, would increase in usefulness the lower HP you have. It would increase your accuracy with all possible combat styles by 1% for every 3% HP you're down. Another, Conservation, is a skilling Prayer that would give you a chance to prevent resources from depleting when they’re harvested while it is active. There are over 20 suggestions, so the polls were looking to gauge which ones had the broadest support to consider for development.
With so many suggestions, it isn’t surprising that feedback was robust. As the team notes in the updated blog, there are also divisions between player groups for what should be emphasized.
