With astress test planned for early 2024, and Early Access in February, the Nightingale team is reflecting on recent changes and happenings in its latest devblog.
With recent blogs announcing the upcoming tests and detailing how multiplayer would work when that test begins, the team at Inflexion has already begun setting the stage. In the meantime, the end of the year reflections detail some changes (including ones made after feedback), additions, and more within its bestiary.
A few reveals include two of the new creatures that we’ll find–the Eoten Sapling and the Catepelose. The Eoten Sapling is a tree-like creature that looks to come in a few varieties, with different leaf styles and colors that look kind of like hairstyles. The Catepelose is a little harder to describe, but clearer when we note the name comes from a French term meaning “hairy cat”. This cat-like creature doesn’t look cuddly and fluffy though, as it looks like a cat and caterpillar sort of melded with red spikes and spines that protrude from its flesh and from its head like antlers.
A creature initially announced as the Brippo, the swamp dweller the team describes as “surly”, has gotten a rename to the Galumph. Inflexion has also began adding fish to the game, tailored to the appropriate ecosystems, with freshwater fish in lakes and saltwater fish in the ocean. Adding fish to the survival sandbox can only mean one thing, and yes, they’ve officially announced fishing as a feature. There are also some new shots of infrastructure, like fishing piers.
On another practical note, The Sere Eoten, also a tree-like creature, was already revealed, but the team decided to add to its already included “shimmy” animation. “It now drops/poops a pile of sticks!”
