Trademark May Reveal the Name of Game Freak's Next Game
A recently published trademark filing for «PAND LAND» by Game Freak has fans wondering if this will be the official title for the studio's previously announced Project Bloom. Game Freak and Private Division announced Project Bloom in May 2023, and this newly publicized trademark may be connected to that game.
Game Freak is the primary developer of the Pokemon games, including recent releases such as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Game Freak is now working to introduce a wholly original IP. Whether «PAND LAND» and Project Bloom are connected has not been confirmed, but fans have already begun speculating on possible ties between the two.
As first reported by Gematsu, Game Freak filed two trademarks in Japan for «PAND LAND,» with one in Japanese and one in English. The Japanese trademark was filed and registered in November 2023, and the English trademark was filed in late December 2023 and registered January 12, 2024. More often than not, trademarks are filed when names and branding have been fully finalized, though last-minute changes can nullify this general practice. Trademarks are recommended to be registered well in advance of a brand or product being launched, so this «PAND LAND» registration does not necessarily indicate that Game Freak is nearing the completion of any project.
