Apple has confirmed that its first hardware event of 2024 will take place on May 7 when new iPad models are rumored to be revealed alongside other products. The Apple event's logo features an Apple Pencil, heavily hinting at at least one product update.
Recently, other rumors have spread regarding new Apple hardware. One insider said that Apple is exploring a revamped Apple TV set-top box that might remind readers of the Xbox Kinect in some ways. Apparently, the new model aims to incorporate a built-in camera for gesture control capabilities and native FaceTime support, although this project is still in its very early stages. While there is no reason to believe that a new Apple TV will be revealed at the company's next hardware event, there has been plenty of speculation that may shine some light on what fans can expect to see next month.
Apple's next hardware event is titled «Let Loose» and takes place on Tuesday, May 7 at 10 a.m. ET. Rumors surrounding the event's new hardware include an updated lineup of iPad Pros that are significantly thinner, with the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models upgrading to OLED screens. A new 12.9-inch iPad Air that features a mini-LED display is also rumored to be revealed. And, as suggested by the event's logo, a new Apple Pencil is expected to be announced that integrates Find My features, magnetically swappable tips that recreate different writing or drawing tools, and some kind of squeeze function. Another hardware rumor making the rounds for May 7 is an updated Magic Keyboard for the new iPad Pro models. The new keyboard apparently uses a sturdier, aluminum frame that makes the iPad Pro look more like a laptop.
The Let Loose event will be held online and will not feature any sort of in-person event for diehard fans, but Apple's WWDC24 is a different story. Apple will host its annual WWDC from June 10 to June 14, when developers and students are invited to attend a portion of the event in person at Apple Park on opening day.
